Here’s everything you’ll need to make these easy, no-fail dessert bars:

- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 – 1 1/2 cup M&M’s
- 12–15 Oreos, roughly chopped
Optional: Reserve a few M&Ms and Oreo pieces to sprinkle on top halfway through baking. It makes them look bakery-style with almost no extra effort.
How to Make Blondies
These simple desserts come together super quickly and all in one bowl!
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy lifting.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until combined.
4. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined (avoid overmixing).
5. Fold in about ¾ of the M&M’s and most of the chopped Oreos (save the rest for the top).
6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
7. Bake for about 15-20 minutes (until they’re about ¾ done), then carefully sprinkle the reserved M&M’s and Oreos pieces over the top.
Bake for an additional 10–20 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
8. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.
Pro Tips for the Best Blondies
- Don’t skip the parchment paper. It makes removing and slicing the blondies so much easier.
- Wait until everything is really cool to slice. It just gives you cleaner slices in the end, plus these blondies keep setting a bit in the pan until everything’s cool.
- Use room temperature ingredients. Especially the egg, because this helps everything mix smoothly.
- Be careful when judging how “done” they are. It’s funny, I never had this problem until I had a gas oven! However, now that I have a gas oven, I notice that things take longer to bake than I expect them to. The best way to tell if these blondies are done is to look at the edges and top and then to also stick a toothpick in the middle. Oftentimes, I find that the edges of mine are golden and baked long before the middle is, but everyone’s oven is also different, so just watch yours. Perform “the toothpick test” to check for doneness; if the toothpick comes out clean when you stick it in the very middle of the blondies, they’re done.
- Sprinkle some extra toppings on top. I know this is in the instructions too, but I really think it adds a touch of prettiness to this recipe for pretty much no extra effort. Keep aside a few M&Ms nd some Oreo bits before baking. About three quarters of the way through baking, remove the pan from the oven and evenly sprinkle the extras on top. Then, pop everything back in the oven until baked. It makes a huge difference for presentation in the end.

FAQs
Can I use dark brown sugar instead of light?
For sure. Dark brown sugar gives a slightly richer, more caramel-like flavor, but you can use whatever brown sugar you have on hand.
How do I store blondies?
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. You can also freeze for up to 2 months. Just slice and wrap individually for easy grab-and-go fast easy desserts. Then, let them thaw to room temperature.
What kind of Oreos work best?
Double Stuf are my favorite, but regular Oreos work perfectly too. You can also use flavored Oreos if you want to switch things up.
Can I add chocolate chips too?
Definitely. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup chocolate chips along with the M&Ms and Oreos for even more chocolate-y fun.
